Hub Feenix was a perfect place for what I needed - a space to make and also a place to heal. The organizers and directors are genuine, caring people who clearly lead with love. I loved being there, and met many wonderful people; I felt supported and welcomed. The environment was beautiful, inside and out, and I honestly created some of the best artwork of my life at Hub Feenix!

A wonderful experience surrounded by amazing people. I am normally super cynical, but this programme was so supportive and held so beautifully by an incredible team. It is definitely more of an opportunity to explore networks, test ideas and meet people than a studio residency, and the fee is not enormous but it is just about enough to get by on. The location is so central and the house is full of joy.

Query: Very kind and open-minded residency owners / curators and the ability to develop yourself freely, creating artworks without obligation for your background or specific media i.e. experimenting with materials / techniques and tools onsite.

The workshops has many techniques available. If the technicians are passionate, they will help you as much as they can. They work from 9-17h. Every week, there is meetings available to discuss progress. An exhibition is possible at the end of the residency for publicity which is a great chance. The advertisement depends of you. The residency is expensive, I would recommend looking into fundings.

It is a wonderful residency in a very small French village. It is lovely and quiet, and the house is full of history. A very quiet place for a very focused residency. I loved my time there. Hope to go back.

Everyone at Latitude was so kind and helpful and truly was a huge positive change in my practice, how I make work, and my art career. I was granted a printing stipend, full access to facilities, and the community to develop my practice. They also provide you with the opportunity to meet with local curators, artists, and members of the community. Chicago has excellent public transportation, so it was easy to get around. They don't provide housing, so as someone not from the Chicago area, that was a difficult hurdle to overcome. I was lucky in that I had a close friend who lived in Chicago already.

Amazing residency in Noyers, a cute small village in France. The accommodation was great and the host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A great community with great French food. The residency included international artists with different styles which was great for my practice. We were provided with our own studios overlooking a beautiful quiet garden. It’s a great place to get away from the world and have the space to just create. Michele was amazing and supportive and provided valuable advice. Definitely recommend!

Benefits and challenges greatly depend on your practice and the point you are in your career.

It is not aimed at production and clearly states that it does not provide artists’ studios. Great for making new connections; many doors open for Delfina residents. The staff is committed to connecting you to relevant contacts and making recommendations based on your research or trajectory. The apartment is very well designed and maintained. 3 months is an ideal duration if you are new to London.

Wonderful residency to explore your work in print. I learned a ton with the help of the staff and was able to create a body of work in one month. The stipend for printing really helps and is very generous.

I have a studio here, not a residency, so the space for me is very much just a workspace, but the community here is wonderful and the programming, especially for emerging artists with their open studios and lunches, is a great way to meet other artists and connect.

I had one of the best times at VCCA. I only spent two weeks there but I made such great memories, I was really lucky to be there with a great group of artists. So many of us had mentioned that we hadn't laughed that much in ages, I really think it can be a place where you make friends for life! It was sad when we had to start leaving and saying our goodbyes. The team at VCCA are very accommodating and it was really nice having our 3 meals a day prepared for us. But I do wish the meals were larger portions and they were better with dietary restrictions. Often they wouldn't make substitutions for your restrictions so you would have to eat less food. A lot of us were still hungry by the end of the night too. One thing to be aware of is that this is on a plantation. I had no idea when I got there and it was a huge shock. It would be better if that made it more obvious on their website.

Overall it was a positive experience in every way.

Expect this to be a relatively independent art residency, with a gracious host (Michelle) and a beautiful setting with the best restaurants.

The experience at LPP is unsurpassed from many international residencies I have attended. The village is an inspiring center within rural Burgundy, with festivals, markets, music, and other interesting events throughout the summer. There are many creatives in the village from other parts of the globe. The studios, lovely kitchen and library are my favorite places to work and socialize with other residents. Bring your own supplies or ship them, be ready for the simple beauty and history of the place to infuse your practice and imagination. Enjoy authentic French village life—take walks, eat like a local, and let the church bells help you form a routine for making and recreating. This is a place I’ve returned to over several years. It inspires.

This place feels like home and a family to me now. Very cozy, absolutely stunning village, great community. Lovely, open and friendly people. If you are curious and friendly yourself, you'll find a refuge in this place.

I had a great time during my ISSP residency in Riga! The apartment is very nice in a nice district, and the people from ISSP are wonderful and very kind. There is no studio but a great library at the office. I shared the apartment with two comic artists. The three of us each made our individual work. There were no workshops at that time. ISSP provided us the opportunity to have an artist talk and we had the opportunity to exhibit.

Seems like the fee changes periodically, so it can be cheap, expensive, or free. Otherwise, it was nice overall. Located almost in the center. You share the kitchen and bathroom with other residents in the three-room apartment, but it's fairly big. I felt I had my own privacy, and it was comfortable. The staff were friendly and nice. If you know what you are doing, it's a nice place to stay and start exploring Riga and Latvia. But it's not an atelier; that's why the residency space is mostly for photographers and comic artists, I guess.

This residency is an artwashing initiative by George Kaiser. It has a history of intimidating and abusing artists. Stay away.

This residency is not accessible. Location is spectacular and space is perfect for solitary practice if you are able-bodied. Administration is very hands-off and undemanding. The region is quite xenophobic; the French property manager has made racist remarks about immigrants.
