A cobert

Benefits: My experience with A Cobert has been extremely valuable both artistically and professionally. In 2026, I developed *Enramades* within the framework of *La Tradició*, a residency that gave me the time, context, and support to develop a project rooted in local history, community, and collective practices. The residency allowed me to work closely with local people and institutions, and to transform historical research into a contemporary artistic process that could become part of the community itself. I had previously participated in A Cobert’s *Artist-in-Residence Entorno al crear y lo creado*, organised in collaboration with UCT Temuco in Chile in 2024, which was also an exceptionally enriching experience. Having participated in two very different contexts through A Cobert has shown me the strength of their approach to artistic residencies: they create conditions for artists to engage meaningfully with a place while also allowing room for experimentation and unexpected encounters. Both experiences have contributed significantly to my artistic practice, particularly by encouraging me to develop projects through dialogue, research, and situated forms of collaboration. They have also expanded my professional network and created lasting connections with people and institutions beyond the immediate duration of the residency. Challenges: I did not encounter any significant challenges during the residency. The organisation was supportive and attentive throughout the process, and I felt that there was a good balance between guidance and autonomy. Practical advice: My main advice for future residents would be to arrive with an openness to the place and to allow the project to evolve through encounters with the local context. A Cobert offers a particularly rewarding framework for artists who are willing to research, listen, and engage with people, histories, and practices that they may not have encountered before. I would also recommend making the most of the relationships that the residency facilitates. Speaking with local communities, researchers, cultural institutions, and collaborators can become an essential part of the artistic process. Rather than approaching the residency only as a period to produce a finished work, I found it much more rewarding to treat it as an opportunity to develop new questions, relationships, and ways of working.
