Casa Lu (Casa Lü)

Casa Lü is a creative community sanctuary in Mexico City, fostering artistic and personal growth through immersive art experiences, inspired by the Tibetan concept of 'lü', emphasizing life as a temporary journey. The residency, tailored by artists for artists, aims to cultivate global dialogue and showcase the vibrant local art scene, offering residents a chance to explore and integrate with Mexico City's dynamic cultural landscape. Casa Lü hosts international artists, providing a supportive environment with living and/or working spaces, and fostering a collaborative atmosphere with a diverse group of six artists-in-residence per session. Two distinct programs are offered: the Regular Residency Program for experienced artists, and the Emerging Artist Residency Program, specifically designed for artists at the beginning of their journey or transitioning from other disciplines. Both programs include accommodation, studio space, logistical support, art scene excursions, weekly meetings for project feedback, and a group exhibition with professional documentation. The Emerging Artist Program additionally offers educational elements like workshops for portfolio development and lectures on the Mexican contemporary art scene. Located between Roma, Condesa, San Ángel, and Coyoacán, the residency is near 'Parque Hundido' park, offering a serene environment with convenient access to the city's rich artistic offerings. Casa Lü's thoughtful schedule includes welcome events, weekly excursions, interactive sessions, open studios, and a concluding group exhibition, fostering deep connections between resident artists and the local community.

Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency (JTHAR)

Founded in 2007, Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency (JTHAR) is a non-profit organization that offers a unique residency experience for artists from around the globe. Located near the stunning Joshua Tree National Park, JTHAR provides artists with scholarship funds, living accommodations, studio space, and opportunities for open studio events. The residency is designed to foster creativity, trust, courage, diversity, and acceptance, promoting opportunities for exploration, experimentation, and engagement with the vibrant local community. Each year, JTHAR invites six artists at various career stages and working in diverse media to create work amidst the natural beauty of the park. The selection process involves a review of applications by the JTHAR Board Members, based on the artist's portfolio and residency proposal. In addition to the standard scholarship, the Gothard Family Artist Scholarship offers a stipend to a residency recipient of African American heritage, specifically for visual artists. The residency provides individual houses for living and working, with the option to use a dedicated large studio space. Artists are expected to provide their own transportation, attend a mid-residency review, and have the option of an open studio exhibition or a Zoom presentation at the end of the residency. JTHAR encourages artists to immerse themselves in the inspiring environment of Joshua Tree, contributing to the cultural landscape and fostering connections within the artistic community.

K11 Art Village

The K11 Art Village, inaugurated in 2011 in Wuhan, China, is a dynamic platform designed to support and nurture emerging artists. It features seven studios and a 500-square-meter exhibition space dedicated to its artist-in-residence program. Over the past decade, K11 Art Village has established partnerships with prestigious institutions such as the Nissan Art Award in Japan, the Royal Academy of Arts in the UK, and the British and French consulates in China. The K11 Art Foundation, founded by Dr. Adrian Cheng in 2010, is a non-profit organization in Hong Kong committed to nurturing emerging Asian artists and promoting contemporary art. The foundation organizes various art projects, including exhibitions, residencies, and educational programs, fostering cross-cultural collaborations with global art and cultural institutions. These collaborations have included partnerships with renowned entities like the Royal Academy of Arts, Serpentine Galleries, Centre Pompidou, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and MoMA, among others. The foundation's efforts significantly contribute to expanding creative horizons and strengthening ties within the art community.

LIA (Leipzig International Art Programme)

The Leipzig International Art Programme (LIA) is a non-profit artist residency located at the Spinnerei Leipzig. Established to foster international artists, LIA provides spacious studios and cultural support, along with exhibition opportunities at the Spinnerei. The program aims to create a unique workspace and platform for cultural exchange, welcoming artists of all nationalities. LIA is situated in a structure of art institutions and studios, offering 83 sqm furnished studio spaces with 5-meter high ceilings for living and working. The Spinnerei, a former cotton factory, now serves as a unique creative workspace housing 9 galleries, an art supply market, art institutions, and etching studios. LIA's concept revolves around creating a space for cultural exchange within the artistic and cultural network of the Spinnerei. It offers a wide audience access to the art-making process and encourages discussions about art in the artists' studios. LIA has partnerships with international art institutions and enjoys support from various organizations, enabling a diverse range of artists to participate in the program.

McColl Center

The McColl Center's Artist-in-Residence Program in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a prestigious program that nurtures the growth of emerging and mid-career artists. It offers three residency terms annually: Fall (August-November), Winter/Spring (January-May), and Summer (June-August). Artists receive private housing, a large-scale private studio, curatorial guidance, marketing support, and a stipend. NARS Foundation (New York Art Residency and Studios)

The New York Art Residency and Studios (NARS) Foundation Artist in Residency Program, based in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, offers three and six-month residencies for emerging and mid-career artists and curators from both the U.S. and internationally. The program provides 24/7 access to furnished, private or shared studio spaces (250 – 300 sq ft) and focuses on the artistic process and experimentation within a diverse artist community. Residents benefit from meetings with 3-4 Studio Visitors each month, gaining feedback and expanding their professional network. They also receive administrative, curatorial, and professional support to explore and expand their artistic practice. Presentation opportunities include a curated exhibition in the NARS gallery, bi-annual Open Studios, and the Entree/Encore program for sharing research and work through various formats. The residency fosters a community-driven program, encouraging ongoing dialogue with fellow artists through weekly gatherings, inter-studio visits, field trips, and meals. R.A.R.O. Barcelona (RARO)

R.A.R.O. Is a itinerant Artists in Residence program created in order to generate spaces for exchange, creation and dissemination of work. R.A.R.O. introduces a format that has the particularity of being itinerant, receives national and international artists, curators, and cultural managers to develop their projects in the different R.A.R.O. workshops from the city of Barcelona at the same time that generates talks, meetings, visits and exhibitions that complement each project.

Rijksakademie

The Rijksakademie in Amsterdam offers a two-year international residency program for around fifty artists, focusing on research, experimentation, and new work production. South Porch

South Porch Artists Residency, nestled in a historic Southern small town near Charleston, South Carolina, offers artists, writers, and thinkers a dedicated space and time for creative work. The residency is set in a gracious 19th-century property, fostering an intimate creative community atmosphere. It provides a flexible residency duration, ranging from four days to four weeks, allowing artists to engage with their projects at their own pace. The setting includes a front porch for summer contemplation, a lively fire for winter warmth, studio spaces for artistic endeavors, and private rooms for focused work. South Porch is committed to community enrichment, believing in the vital societal role of artists, writers, and scholars. The residency is supported by various local and national arts organizations and aims to foster meaningful interactions between artists and the Lowcountry community. Hosted by Brad Erickson and Brian Protheroe, who moved to Summerville with the dream of creating this residency, the property features a main house with historical significance and a newly completed ADA-accessible cottage with studio spaces. The studios are equipped with essential amenities for artistic creation, including natural light and necessary tools.

SVA NYC (School of Visual Arts)

They benefit from living in shared accommodations with private facilities, studio spaces, and access to the Oak Spring Garden Library. The foundation’s residency programs are unique in striking a balance between independent exploration and communal interaction, allowing residents the freedom to work autonomously while living and engaging with others.

The Arctic Circle

The Arctic Circle is an annual expeditionary residency program established in 2009, focusing on interdisciplinary collaborations among artists, scientists, architects, and educators. Participants explore the high-Arctic Svalbard Archipelago and Arctic Ocean aboard a specially equipped expedition vessel. The program encourages engagement in contemporary issues and professional development through fieldwork, research, and public engagement. It supports the creation and exhibition of new work, fostering individual creativity and collaborative efforts. The Arctic Circle accepts applications from international contemporary artists, scientists, architects, educators, and innovators. The program includes hotel accommodation in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, all meals on board, shore excursions, and access to onboard facilities. Participants are responsible for their transportation to and from Longyearbyen, Svalbard. The expeditions offer opportunities for personal projects and collaborations, with two distinct expedition opportunities aboard different vessels. Both vessels provide workspace, common areas, and privacy for productivity and creativity. The Arctic Circle team offers comprehensive support in expedition preparation and logistics planning, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all participants. The program takes place in the international territory of Svalbard, near the North Pole, offering a unique environment for artistic and scientific exploration.
