Baan Noorg Collaborative Arts & Culture

Baan Noorg Collaborative Arts & Culture, founded in 2011 in Nongpho, Ratchaburi, Thailand, offers an International Artist in Residence Program focused on community engagement, cultural exchange, and multidisciplinary practice. Situated in a Tai Yuan heritage town, the program invites international artists, curators, and researchers to stay for periods ranging from three weeks to three months. Artists engage with the community through workshops, exhibitions, and collaborative events. The program promotes contemporary art in rural and urban contexts, fostering creative interactions and direct engagement with the local culture and landscape. Artists can work in shared studio spaces with access to basic tools, and they are provided accommodation within a community-centric setting. The residency is self-funded by artists, with a participation fee of $100 per week for open calls, while invited artists may receive additional support. This artist-run residency emphasizes the importance of a shared artistic experience, community integration, and artistic development through critical discussion and cultural immersion.

The e x t a n t a t i o n Artist-In-Residence (AIR) program in Chiang Mai, Thailand, is a secondary residency open to multidisciplinary, performance, sound, media artists, musicians, filmmakers, and writers with critical and experimental practices. Located on the margins where urbanism meets countryside, it offers a process-oriented space for artists to immerse in the local reality, disconnect from usual environments, and reflect on their context. Facilities include a private bedroom, optional 40m2 studio suitable for small performances or computer-based work, a bicycle, art scene introduction, and airport pickup, with residencies typically lasting 1-4 weeks for a fee.

Patravadi Theatre

Bangkok, Thailand

Patravadi Theatre, founded by National Artist Patravadi Mejudhon, was Bangkok's first open-air theatre and a center for contemporary performing arts, offering facilities and spaces for international artists to study or observe Thai performing arts and culture. It provided apartments, rooms, classes in Thai classical dance, music, and drums, along with workshops taught by experienced artists, and performance venues including a 300-seat indoor theatre and open-air spaces. The original theatre site has since been converted into Theatre Residence, a boutique riverside hotel and serviced residence that honors its performing arts legacy.
