The Ossabaw Island Residency, run by ARTS Southeast with The Ossabaw Island Foundation, places artists on a 26,000-acre barrier island south of Savannah, Georgia, reachable only by boat. Residents receive private on-island housing, all meals and boat transport from Savannah, and work amid maritime forest, wetlands and shoreline. The residency is self-directed, with no thematic requirement and no expected deliverable, continuing an artist-hosting tradition on the island that dates to 1961. It is open to emerging, mid-career and established artists across disciplines, and currently runs on an invitational basis.
