The Material Way
Denmark
About
The Material Way offers two unique international online programs aimed at artists, designers, and creators interested in local bio-based materials and natural materials in ceramics. Founded by Rita Trindade and Bonnie Hvillum, this platform serves as a collaborative and educational space for those committed to crafting a future focused on holistic, local, and nature-minded practices. The programs, running from January to July, are designed to evolve a network of makers and designers through intensive, theme-based weekly sessions culminating in a group exhibition in Denmark. The first program, focused on Local Bio-based Materials, offers participants in-depth knowledge and tools for material development and research, encouraging the creation of sustainable and innovative projects. The Natural Materials in Ceramics program similarly guides participants through the exploration and application of natural materials in ceramics, aiming to deepen their understanding and practical skills in material-based art and design. Both programs include phases of research, perspective broadening, and exhibition preparation, facilitated by a team of esteemed main lecturers and guest speakers who are well-regarded in their respective fields. This diverse educational offering promises a comprehensive look at sustainable materials and their applications in contemporary art and design.
