About
The Canopy Program by NYC Crit Club is a comprehensive, year-long mentorship initiative designed to foster the growth and development of artists at various stages of their careers. It's an inclusive program that encourages applications from artists of all academic backgrounds, from formal education holders like BA, BFA, MFA, to self-taught artists. The program prides itself on a process-oriented approach that values developed and considered work in the artists' portfolios, as well as a sincere interest in engaging with the program's structured curriculum. The Canopy Program stands out for its global accessibility, offering both virtual and in-person cohorts. Virtual cohorts allow artists from around the world to participate via Zoom, while in-person cohorts are designed for artists based in New York City. A highlight of the program is its blend of foundational work, critiques, professional practice discussions, and art history lectures, coupled with special workshops, guest lectures, and a final group show in NYC. Tuition for the program is set at $6,500 for 2024, covering all three semesters, including a deposit and administrative costs. Financial aid and scholarships, such as the BIPOC Scholarships and The James Bernard Haggarty Scholarship, make the program accessible to a wider range of artists. The program’s detailed curriculum and supportive financial options underscore its commitment to nurturing artistic talent in a supportive, community-oriented environment.

Would be good if they had different timings to suit everyone internationally because on my time zone the class was at 2 am Loved the variety of workshop and the dynamic of the program it covers what an artist would need in term of art history, techniques, critique, mentorship, specific assignments tolerated to each individual and professional practice to help our career when it comes to opportunities, Open calls, gallery representations grants and much more.
