AIR InSILo

AIR InSILo, established in 2020, is an independent, artist-run residency situated in the serene, rural setting of Hollabrunn, just north of Vienna, Austria. It was founded by artists and curators Ksenia Yurkova and Martin Breindl with a vision to combat the isolation and commercial pressures often faced by artists. By providing a space removed from urban distractions and the demands of productivity, AIR InSILo focuses on fostering community engagement, environmental sustainability, and the exploration of the countryside's hidden layers. The residency is equipped with workshops for wood, metal, and other media projects, offering a comprehensive floor for living and working, shared spaces, and a garden. Emphasizing process over product, AIR InSILo invites artists, curators, and researchers to engage deeply with conceptual art, sustainability, and the ethical challenges of artistic production. It runs thematic open calls annually, focusing on various contemporary issues and offering a supportive environment for artists facing political persecution or needing a retreat to rejuvenate their creativity.

Echo Correspondence

Vienna, Austria

Echo Correspondence, founded in 2022 by Juni-Nyusta Ruckendorfer, is an artist residency and cultural space located in Vienna’s 19th district. The residency occupies the former studio-villa of the renowned artist Wander Bertoni, a space that was originally designed by architect Roland Rainer in the 1950s and later expanded by Johannes Spalt. Echo Correspondence offers a residency program that fosters critical, intercultural exchange and provides artists with the opportunity to engage deeply with the space’s history and architecture. The facility includes a pavilion, gardens, and a villa with two large studios, a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Echo Correspondence supports artists through hands-on curatorial guidance, promoting a diverse and balanced creative environment. The residency also serves as a gallery and community space, hosting exhibitions, workshops, and events.

Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts

The Internationale Sommerakademie für bildende Kunst Salzburg (Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts), founded in 1953 by Oskar Kokoschka, is Europe’s oldest summer academy of fine arts. Located in Salzburg, Austria, it offers intensive workshops lasting from one to four weeks, led by renowned artists, curators, and critics from around the world. The Academy operates primarily at Hohensalzburg Fortress and the Untersberg quarry in Fürstenbrunn, with additional temporary spaces in Salzburg.
