PAR International Art Program is an open-call artist residency located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, welcoming artists from around the globe to engage deeply with the city’s vibrant contemporary art scene. The program is tailored for creatives working across visual arts, performance, literature, curating, and research, with a particular interest in experimental practices connected to performing arts. Residents stay in private rooms within shared housing, fostering cultural exchange with both local and international artists. The residency includes access to shared studio spaces, individual mentorship sessions, group critiques, cultural excursions, and culminates in a public open studio. Each residency spans from 4 to 12 weeks, with flexible scheduling between February and November. PAR emphasizes collaboration, immersion in Buenos Aires’ artistic ecosystem, and provides professional development through one-on-one tutoring and community engagement. While self-funded, residents can request invitation letters to support external grant applications. The program is ideal for artists seeking a research-focused and socially engaged experience in one of Latin America’s most dynamic art hubs.

R.A.R.O. Buenos Aires (RARO)

Colectivo R.A.R.O. is an innovative artist residency program that originated in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has expanded its reach to Madrid, Spain. Founded with the vision of creating spaces for reflection, production, and interdisciplinary encounters, R.A.R.O. distinguishes itself through its itinerant residency model. This unique approach allows artists to traverse and work within multiple ateliers, each directed by local artists from a broad spectrum of disciplines. The program supports a multidisciplinary environment, encouraging residents to delve into various artistic practices and collaborative projects. By facilitating access to a network of 17 ateliers in Buenos Aires alone, R.A.R.O. offers artists the flexibility to tailor their residency experience according to their project needs and artistic aspirations. Participants are given the opportunity to engage with the local art community, including curators, collectors, and other artists, culminating in the possibility of showcasing their work through exhibitions or open studios. Additionally, R.A.R.O. actively supports artists in accessing grants and provides special programs for both Argentine and international participants. This residency is aimed at artists, curators, and cultural managers seeking an immersive, collaborative experience away from traditional urban centers.

We host three residency programs a year, each lasting between 4 to 8 weeks. We also receive artists all year long to work in private studios for up to 6 months. For each program, we select a group up to 10 international and local artists, curators and researchers. The group shares working spaces and participates in a number of activities as each one immerse in new or ongoing projects. During the program public presentations are organized and the residency culminates in an open studio which is an integral part of our program of exhibitions. The exhibition is open to the public for the last days of the residency, during which special visits and presentations are coordinated. Each program have a guest curator who participates in the selection of the candidates, propose a concept or activities, follows each project, participate in the work meetings and the public presentations. Residents also have the assistance of both a production coordinator and the directors of the project. The schedule of activities also includes visits to relevant art spaces in Buenos Aires and visits from other educational programs, artists, curators, and critics.
